Patron Services Clerk

Job Description: The La Grange Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual to join the busy Patron Services staff. As the first point of contact for Library visitors, Patron Services Clerks are responsible for greeting visitors in person and on the phone, directing patrons to the right department, assisting with computers and eReaders, and generally providing patrons with the information they need. Clerks also create new library cards, check materials in and out, and perform a variety of assigned duties in support of the department.
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm for working with the public. Compassion, flexibility, and attention to detail are also important. Comfort with computers is essential, as well as an ability to learn new technologies.

The La Grange Public Library serves a community of 15,550 in the suburban Chicago community of La Grange, Illinois. The library’s mission is to provide the community the inspiration and the means to learn, explore, and connect throughout their lives.
Hours: 20 hrs/week, including evenings and weekends
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate, and at least two years of work experience, including at least one year experience dealing with the public in a customer service setting. Must be available evenings and weekends.
